Orion II is a small yacht-like expedition ship accommodating just 100 passengers. She was built by Cantieri Navale Ferrari of Italy and relaunched in 2011 following an extensive refit. Little expense was spared with this stylish, Italian built, all-suite Mega Yacht.
Orion II now offers some of the finest standards in small-ship expedition cruise travel. She is fitted with stabilisers and the expedition equipment includes a fleet of Zodiacs. Combining luxury and convenience, the vessel’s excellent design, craftsmanship and quality materials will ensure every modern comfort. Cabins are spacious, ranging in size from 215 to 285 square feet. All have an ocean view and a sitting area or separate living room, twin or queen-size beds and marble bathrooms. Each suite offers ample storage space and facilities include a flat screen TV/DVD/CD player, internet access, air-conditioning, personal safe, hairdryer and a mini refrigerator which is continuously restocked with complimentary bottled water. There is also complimentary 24-hour room service.
Facilities onboard include a restaurant which serves a high level of cuisine in a single open seating, a well-stocked library with a laptop for internet use, a hair and beauty salon and health spa with gymnasium. The sun deck is a spacious area to relax and here you will find a Jacuzzi and outdoor café. The lounge is the social hub of the vessel and here tour briefings and presentations by the expedition team take place and gentle music in the evening can be enjoyed. A crew of 70 ensure the smooth running of the vessel. There is also a small hospital onboard.
Orion II will be exploring the temples, gardens and cultures of Japan on a luxurious 12 night 2012 departure, as well an expedition cruise of the Russian Far East from Tokyo to the Kamchatka Peninsula for a 14 night voyage, also in 2012.
